Bellum
(War) Chapters 1-4 RULES
Option:
Before
the game begins, referee may quiz/review questions and answers for 5-10 minutes
using the answer key.
Form
groups of three-four students. Choose one student to
be the referee who judges the answers
using the answer key. Rotate this position each time the game is played.
Each
group gets a deck of cards and a question matrix
The
referee gets the answer key.
Note:
It is important to alternate high card with low card when taking turns.
Otherwise questions for the higher cards will be occur too many times. So, high
card answers first question, lowest card the second question, and so on.
The
referee deals out all the cards to the players. Then players put one of their cards down face
up. The higher card must try to answer the question associated with that
card. If the answer is correct the student gets to take the cards. If the answer is incorrect, the other
students gets a chance to answer. If the second student answers correctly, s/he
get to take the cards. If no one answers correctly the players put down two
more cards and the one who put down the lowest card must answer the next
question associated with that card on the pink sheet.
When two players put down the same card (for example
two kings), the referee declares “Bellum” (War). All players put three of their
cards face down then a fourth card face up. Highest card gets first try at the
question. Whoever answers correctly gets to take all the cards.
The
game continues until one person has all the cards. If time runs out. The one
who has the most cards wins.
If a team finishes before class time runs out, the
group should begin the game again with a new person as the referee.
