NL.CLL. 2.1 Understand the meaning of simple, spoken greetings, words, and phrases, when accompanied by visual clues and/or prompts, as needed.
NL.CLL. 2.2 Understand the meanings of spoken words that are similar to those in the students’ language.
NL CLL 2.3 Identify written words and phrases that are similar to words and phrases in the students’ language.
NL CLL 2.4 Interpret phrases, commands, simple questions and descriptions that are presented with accompanying gestures, intonations, and other visual and auditory clues.
NL CLL 2.5 Recognize vocabulary and syntax of single words and simple memorized phrases in the target language.
NL.CLL.4.3 Recognize examples of cognates and loan words.

Objectives: Consolidation of learning about subjects and direct objects. Vocabulary re-enforcement through Bellum game.

Study Vocabulary for Chapter 05

At 8:10  Begin playing Bellum (game card, game key and instructions in the red tub). Form groups of 3-4.   Read the instructions carefully. Each group chooses a referee who will hold the answer key. After each game, switch to a different referee. As you move through a game make sure you alternate between high and low cards to determine who will answer the question on the game card

Tuesday October 1

Objectives: Focus on vocabulary in Chapter 05 and body words, identifying English derivatives. Learn new words. Words are power.

EQ. Are things, ideas and processes real to you if you do not have a word for them?  Have you ever noticed how after you learn a new word you notice in the world around you that word in action, in concrete forms, in your daily life?

Collaborative and independent: Pre-reading derivatives for Chapter 5.

Independent: Ecce Romani Chapter 5 page 26 (blue handout), Return to teacher in paper form.

Independent and collaborative: Corpus Humanum. Look at the body words on the labeled body in your notebooks and review the Corpus Humanum vocabulary list in Quizlet.  Then choose 6 body parts to draw and label in Latin. Large pieces of paper are behind the teacher's desk. Colored pencils and markers are on the projector cart.  Do your very best job, quality counts. Make the body parts just slightly bigger than they would be in actual size. Put your name on the back of each illustration.

End of class work and homework: 05g Expanding your English vocabulary (bright pink handout). Study for quiz on Chapter 5 vocabulary using Quizlet.

Wednesday October 2

Objectives: Review subject and direct object nouns. Homework check on assignments for 9/30 and 10/1.

Bellwork: Read again the story for Chapter 4. Write in your notebooks direct objects (DO) ending in -m.


Guided: Review and homework corrections 4c and 4d Activity Book (assigned Monday 9/30)

Board race: Identify the subjects (S) and direct objects (DO) in activity 4d.



Guided: Audio for story and vocabulary

Guided instruction (handout - marigold). Answer the questions for Exercise 5a in Latin.
